27 in a Row

My friend's mom is a life coach. She recently told my friend that it takes 27 days to form a habit. I'm not sure how it got so exact, but I'm willing to try. However, I have a few questions:

1. How do I choose which one to start with (since I have none)?
2. What if I change my mind? How long does it take to undo the habit?
3. Once I have one settled into habit mode, should I start another one?

I had a friend once who was on a campaign to stop his friends from the bad habit (according to him) of masturbating. He said it took 20 days to be free of the defilement. However, I don't believe that a habit can be undone more quickly than created.

Well, I met a guy last week who quit a 4 pack a day smoking habit in a day. So maybe one could quit masturbating in 20, but why?
